The second steam unit of Sablan combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 160 megawatts synchronized with the national power grid on 2 February 2023. The power plant has 6 gas units and 3 steam units, and with the completion of the steam part of the power plant, its total capacity will reach 1,440 megawatts. Sabalan is in Ardabil Province of northwestern Iran.

GNEC is responsible for consultancy and supervision services in the project.
