The second steam unit of South Pars combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 160 megawatts was connected to the country's national electricity grid on 22 February 2023. The power plant has 6 gas units with a capacity of 960 MW and three steam units (160 MW), the second unit of which was connected to the country's national grid today.

GNEC is responsible for consultancy and supervision services in the project.
